The motor was finished in mid June and I got around to taking a few pics now that I unwrapped it.
Here it is a little more complete with the moto... Show morer plate almost finished. It still needs touched up by the water crossover and it's a bit too close to the harmonic dampener for my liking.
I ended up getting a little bit of time this weekend to try and set the motor in and get the plates cut and tabs welded in. I had a bit of trouble because everything on the firewall got in the way; wiper motor, brake booster, part of the firewall that eventually got cut out. Even the firewall just below the wiper motor had to get modified slightly because of the huge valve covers. Regardless, i had it all mocked up and got the front plate cut almost right. It needs a little bit more taken off, but that will have to wait until next week. Here's a couple pics from the days work.
It's hard to tell in this pic but I don't think I'm going to have to put any sort of cowl on my hood. There should be plenty of room for the elbow to fit up there.
Here's the wonderful new hole that I had to cut in my firewall just to get the motor to sit in there right. It's going to get a lot bigger when i mock up the tranny...
I'm looking to get a junk aod to be able to mock that up as well to see how much of a dropped crossmember i need to get.
Here's some parts that I'm not using yet but will be very soon...
The turbo I'll be using
One of the fuel injector's I'm going to use.
One of the new springs i'm going to be using. It's a 2" drop spring compared to the old, collapsed original one.
While I was at home, I went ahead and put all new rubber bushings in as well as new ball joints for the front end. The drop springs went in as well. It should make it ride a little better than it used to.
I didn't(at the time) have the cash for some adjustable shocks so when the frame is getting stripped and painted, I'll tear down the front end as well to paint the control arms. Thats when the new shocks will be going in.
Here's my awesomely cool manual steering box that I got on ebay. The styrofoam got all over the place when it got shipped but it looks good and moves smoothly.
