Here's my 87 Cutlass Supreme 4 door. I just bought it with 93k miles on it. The previous owner was an old lady, who passed away a while back, a... Show morend her son sold it to me. It's all stock with a quadrajet carb'd 307 and a 3 speed TH200. The car is in excellent condition, besides a few small cosmetic defects and faded paint on top.So far all I've done to it is maintenance and a CD player.
Im not gonna do much to it, since its just a 4door Gbody, just slam it, 17" or 18" wheels (TT2 or 200s-Daisy's), full exhaust, rebuild the fuel and ignition system, clean up the interior, audio system with components, amps and subs in custom fiberglass enclosures.
Here is a lame photochop, to show what it should look like in the future.
I recently ghetto-lowered it, by cutting the springs, to see what it looks like at different heights, before ordering springs. Either, I'll go with a 2" drop spring or order some stiff Moog's and cut them to the perfect ride height. I've already ordered my shocks. They are Summit "3 way adjustable racing shocks". I think they were only 30 or 40 bucks each.
I also bought an Infiniti component set. It has tweeters, 6.5" speakers and crossovers. The tweeters are being custom moulded into the A-pillars, and the 6.5's are also being installed in a custom fiberglass "pod" in the lower door panels.
I also broke the bulb holder thing, in the 3rd brake light, and instead of trying to find one at a junk yard, I just soldered a bunch of superbright red LED's to a board, and installed it in the stock 3rd brake light fixture......pretty dang bright.
Well, a tornado hit the neighborhood. It demolished a house across the street, and tore the roof off our next door neighbors' house. Luckily our house survived with minimal damage.....but my Cutlass was damaged. It was parked on the street and the tornado threw a big log and several branches at the car. The log landed on the corner of the trunk and DS quarter panel. The branches put several scratches and small dents all along the driver side.
Here are a few more pics of the damage to the neighborhood. Sorry for the bad quality, I used my phones' camera.
Recently, I had a local carb expert, Jerry Halman, rebuild the stock quad. Also added a new fuel pump, radiator hoses, thermostat, and had the timing adjusted. Last summer I also had the dreaded intake coolant leak. So the intake gasket was replaced. I recently found out the valvecovers have been leaking for who knows how long, so they have been replaced as well.
I just ordered my exhaust parts. I'm going with Flowtech longtube headers (1.75"/3"), collector reducers (3">2.5"), 2-Summit welded chambered mufflers (blowmaster ripoffs), and turndowns before the axle. All I need to do is install the headers, and get the rest installed.....also need the transmission crossmember notched to allow an exhaust pipe on the driver side thru.
A couple weeks ago, i took the exhaust off, to install the new headers, and found out that the longtubes don't work with a factory column shifter. The driver side collector runs into the mechanical linkage for the trans. So I have to either run a floor shifter, or try to make a column cable work. B&M has a kit to convert a column linkage to a cable, I just dont know if it will work with this car without too much modification. Show Less
