Today (8/5/04) I'm finally beginning to settle in with everything and by the end of next week will hopefully have a CAI (looks like it'll prob be blue), headlight eyebrows, euro bumper lights, and maybe even the Kamei sport grille. I still am trying to find out about how to clear out the stock headlights (to avoid cost of whole new ones), but I can't seem to find the clear pieces to replace the current orange ones and worse than that I can't seem to find even the orange pieces to suggest that there are cleared ones? Any ideas? Hopefully someone reads this and can help me out. I certainly could use some assistance on where to get the pieces and how to put them in (I don't want to have "steamy" headlights b/c of poor sealing).
Let the modding begin. Today debadging took place. I started shopping around for some sub deals and stuff too.
Today I purchased some eyebrows for "Dub Beast". I also began searching for a stubby for my car.
Bought a stubby antenna today. 3.5 inch black aluminum one. Hopefully I keep the awesome reception I currently have. I'm going to be updating my pictures tomorrow probably. Still don't even have one of my debagdged rear. Tomorrow I'm also going to get some tinting quotes. I've found with the height my car rides at the it seems as though I'm incessantly being high beamed, so tinting will hopefully help. Thanks for looking.
Today the eyebrows and stubby are scheduled to arrive. Couldn't have taken much longer, but we'll see. I hope they come in, I'm tired of waiting. I'm hoping to go out and get some tinting estimates and hopefully nail down a sub deal this week, but the likelihood of me having time seems to be about null. Thanks for checking out my site! Keep checkin back, new pics are coming soon -- promise!
Well, I received the stubby, but still no sign of eyebrows :-(. Hopefully they'll come in tomorrow, I'll install them and take some pics. I have the stubby on, but that doesn't seem quite like a solid enough reason to take pics yet. So, hopefully in 24 hours I'll have at least 2 more pics on here. Thanks!
The eyebrows are on now. I finalyl got them all set up this evening -- because you can't drive for 5-6 hours.
So, tomorrow I'll come home from school and take some pics. Have a good one! Thanks!
Long awaited for, and overdue, my new, although few, modifications pics are here! I'll begin with the first one and move forward to the third ;-)!
This is the debaged rearend of my Jetta GLI, now just GLI. I think it cleans up the rearend a bit and keeps people wondering what type of car it may be. If was a relatively simple process involving floss, some elbow grease, and some goo-b-gone. Turned out pretty nice -- absolutely no recognition of the "JETTA" that once resided here.
This is my new stubby 3.5 inch antenna. I think it's quite an improvement from the original 18.5 inch antenna. I really haven't lost any radio reception, at least not that I have noticed. I also think it looks pretty cool because it looks like I have OnStar or satellite radio or something like that? But, either way I'm really quite happy with the antenna. I had one initial problem with it -- the screw that came with it was about 3 or 4 threads too long compared to my roof mount and the new antenna. So, there was a slight gap between the antenna and the roof mount. I'm pretty particular about those kind of things and found it necessary to have to find a solution. The solution was a 5/16 inch rubber gromulet, which I cut in half for a nicer flush look, underneath the antenna. I think it actually looks nicer. Starting an antenna revolution!
As you can see in these pics I installed my new eyebrows. These were the last thing to arrive and the last to go on, but it's all good. I think they add a nice "angry" kind of look to the front end. The pics really don't do it justice, they really make the headlights look cat-like and squinty. They look nice for the less than $30 I spend on them.
Today I received my cleared out side markers along with the orange bulbs I need for them. They're installed and look awesome. The only possible complaint from me is that the new "orange" color that comes from them is a bit lighter than that of the stock headlights and side turn signals. But, during the daytime they look really awesome. $23 WELL SPENT!
It's been a while, but school is mostly to blame for that. Yesterday I purchased a 6 disc VW changer. It should hopefully be here by the end of this week. I also am STRONGLY considering purchasing my friend's old PUNCH HE's. He has two old 12" PUNCH HE's that he was going to use until he got some new P2's. The PUNCH HE's come with a box and an amp and wiring for only $125. I was considering getting those just to get something in and see how I like it. After all, I can't imagine reselling them for that kind of price would be an issue.
Well, I received my changer and it is installed. I also ended up purchasing the HE's and got those installed as well. Here are some pics of the finished products.
Today I received and installed a Euroswtich. I intend to install a rear foglight as well as attempting to get rid of those annoying running lights and going solely to turn signals. I'll add some new pictures whenever I get my car cleaned.
I put a Carbonio Cold Air Intake in on the 26th. I just got some time to get pics of my Euroswitch and my new CAI. If you have any questions about them just leave me a message. Enjoy.
I took care of getting rid of those annoying parking lights. Now they don't come on, they only come on for 4-ways and turn signals now, as though SHOULD!!! Oh yeah, I also disabled my day-time running lights because I intend to get some Xenon gas filled light bulbs and I DON'T want them running 24/7.
Picture of my stock downpipe. Would like to make that a GHL sometime soon...
This afternoon I ordered a GHL 2.5" cat-back, SAMCO turbo-inlet pipe, Auto Meter boost gauge w/New South Pod, and a Neuspeed Upper Strut tie. Thanks Santa ;-)! Hopefully I'll start getting some of those parts by Dec 26th. Maybe earlier, if I'm real lucky!
Well, as it turns out, it looks like most of my parts will be arriving around Dec 29th. O well, at least I'll have them to ring in the new year!
After this evening I have my strut-tie and boost gauge all set up. Here are some pics of the gauge and strut-tie as well as the method I used to tie my boost gauge into my diverter valve line.
Yesterday I went down to EuroStylesEast and got a different boost gauge. As you can see, my boost gauge didn't have vacuum (no biggie), but it also read 4.5 PSI when turned off. So, I went down there to exchange it and they didn't have any others in stock. So, I purchased a VDO gauge instead. It doesn't look quite as nice, but it's got vacuum. Plus, they sell a kit so that I can make it match 100% to dash color. So, I'll spend the $$ and get that later. I need to pics of my exhaust and stuff, but haven't had time yet. Will get er dun ASAP.
MLK Jr. Day! Thanks to him, Civil Rights took several bounds forward. Today I got some pics of my turbo inlet pipe, cat-back, and turbo! The cat-back is stained white from salt, but hopefully you can tell where it is.
This evening I received my new Forge 007 Diverter Valve from a friend of mine. He made me an exceptional deal which also included a nice spring kit to adjust the valve pressure. This piece is stainless steel, which is a NICE upgrade from the stock plastic one!
I haven't had a chance to update much recently, but I've done a few more mods. I installed a GHL lower intercooler pipe, drilled holes in my wheel well for better intercooler air flow, reversed my Forge 007, and have some pictures of my exhaust to post. Expect some more updates within the next day or two!
It's been a LONG time since I've last updated. Tonight I completed a home-made grounding kit project. Tomorrow it'll be going on my car, but here's pics from the creation.
What's been done in the bay so far...
Long, long time since I last updated. I've done a lot of stuff since then. I've gotten an ECU remap, a front mount intercooler, dynoed, and some other random little stuff.
