Behind this 6.5" screen is the other half of the component set. The front stage imaging is peerless, though much of that is due to the fact that the Eclipse 55040 is reproducing the sounds.

As you can see, the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport is a sharp vehicle even with the stock features.
Take a look inside, you see the Eclipse 55040 head unit, powered down. Take note of the handy pocket underneath the head unit itself. This was part of the dash kit.
In the process of researching head units, it was discovered that there is a significant difference between high-end and low-end head units. Nakamichi and Clarion manufactured similar head units to the 55040, but the Eclipse head units use such high-quality converters, there was no real competition in the end.
Despite basic features and simple operation, the Eclipse 55040 still offers a contribution to the industry's "Gee-Whiz" factor in this display mode.
