This is actually my brother's Toyota.THE STORY:One hot day after school, we decided to go to the river. The river is about 30 miles away on mostlsy dirt ... Show moreroad. Street tires and dirt road do NOT mix. About half way to the river is a sharp blind turn. Naturally, my brother was allready only doing 20-25 mph because of the dirt. As he went into the turn some guy in a black Ranger railed sideways around the turn and nearly hit my brothers truck. My brother turned the wheel and (here's his mistake) slammed the brakes. He must've then taped the gas beacause the truck fishtailed 3 times, ended up sliding sideways into a ditch and rolled onto the roof. So there we were hanging upside down in a ditch. Amazingly his crappy stereo kept on playing! We unbuckled orselves and got out. The guy in the Ranger must've not seen the wreck because he kept going! THAT ASSHOLE! We never found out who he (or she) was. We were stranded for 15 minutes before anyone came. We then flipped the truck out of the ditch and turned around and went home:( This is the good side. The side I sat on. If I wasn't wearing my seatbelt I would've ended up under the truck. Now I always wear the belt. This is the wrecked side. It looks worse in up close. MY CAR NOW AND WHAT I PLAN ON DOING WITH IT.
Here are some problems that I plan on fixing when I get back to the states. IN 2007! (DAMN THAT'S A LONG TIM... Show moreE!) Actually, i plan on going to college while I'm in the Marines. I want to learn about busines and financing, and then when (or if) i decide to part ways with the Coprs after my 4 years, i will go to Wyoming Tech to learn about body repair and paint and maybe even high performance engines. THEN, I WILL OPEN MY OWN SHOP!
First of all, the body...
If you can't tell, there are dents and dings all over this bad boy. I also need to paint it. This is actually a pretty good picture because i had just washed the car, but belive me, even if you cant see them, they are there.
The hatch still has a dent in it from a little accident. That needs to go. When it rains, water slowly seeps into the back of my car. NO BUENO!
There is also a dent on the front from an encounter with a pole.
Then the powertrain and related components. The engine needs replacin'. It is totally stock (except a slightly larger carburator) and has 160,000 original miles on it. The head gasket has had to been replaced 3 times (including when i was home in Feruary), there is a crack in the block just under the exhaust where water leaks, the differential is worn the fuck out (it makes whining noises(and don't be a smartass and tell me it's low on fluid)) the cat. converter is rusted apart inside, the muffler has rust holes in it, and, umm... i think thats it.
After the engine, i will work on making it handle. New suspension! The front shocks and struts are good, but I find them to be too soft. The car is a really comfortable ride, but it makes for less handling capabilities at higher speeds. Now, the back end might need a lot of work done. Over time, you can see that the camber angle on the tires is a little too much. Dont get me wrong, more camber does handle better, but this car isn't supposed to have that. Take a look. If you don't know what camber is, notice how the wheels aren't parralel to each other, they seem to come in towards the top, well, that is your camber angle.
