NEW CHANGES! I tinted the tail lights after I tried to put GTA tail lights on my firebird. But it required a little bit of modification. Nothing too hard b... Show moreut I just did not feel like cutting my cables up. I think they came out decent. A couple of people asked me where did I get it done?
Here is the before and after pics. The good thing is that all my lights can be seen clearly thru the tint when they come on. I also use some pin stripe to make the Superman S on the rear window.
In order not to get any bubles in the tint I had to measure it exactly where the lens starts and finish. The first time I did it I tried to cover the entire lights but the lenses are curved so it was impossible to get it done right.
Next I decided to get a new carped with out paying $200 for it. So I went to my local Wal-mart and got 2 grey all purpose carpets in the car section $20 for bouth. Cut them and laid them down. I wanted to do it in black, but they where out. I also changed the color of the pedals. I got tired of the black and grey. As with seat covers I decied to go with red again to lighten up the inside of the car.
I went to the local junk yard and picked me up a 79 firebird shifter. I like those better. They are smaller and I just looks a lot better too. I got a new center console.
I liked how my daily driver (cheap Project) is coming around. The last thing I wanted to do is to put an open exaust muffler. Then I going to tint the windows, which I am going to have them done proffesionally.
Let me know What you think and what else can we do with it. Show Less

Show more after a good inspection turns out that the T/A has a lot of body rust by the doors and rear quarter pannels. I put the power bulge hood on the firebird, and painted the rims black. The responce I got from the people in the neighborhood was very rewarding. I looks so much better. Here is another angle of the car. I am thinking of making a knight rider conversion. next year if I don't deploy to the gulf I will have it pait it midnight black. I want to get the nose for it before I paint it. Please let me know what you think.
How it all began I was driving an 86 IROCZ back and forth to work. About 40 miles both ways. Althought I love the way the IROC handled, the gas milage and trafic going back and forth to Norfolk was too much. I always liked Firebirds and I was looking for a daily driver until I can start another muscle car project. I saw this 89 Firebird on Ebay for $1600 buy now option. I was looking for a V6 for gas milage and when ever I get tired of the engine I would swap it out for a 350 TPI. So I went to Newport News and check the car out. I was lucky to find this car. It was just given and excellent paint job and rebuilt the transmision plus 4 new tires. The interior was shot. The seats where ripped and the headliner was falling down. The engine was in need of a tune up and it sounded rough. But the body and the shape of the car was in perfect condition. I do not know if the previous owner washed his dogs in the car but it was the worst smelling car ever.
I offered him $1400. and pointed out the cars short commings. Nobody bought the car on Ebay so he call me back and asked me for $1425 for the car. I sold the IROC and bought the Firebird.
I started workin on the Engine. Gave it a good tune up and changed the Oxigen sensor. The Oxigen sensor made a huge different. the car performed almost as a brand new car.
INTERIOR After the tune up, I went to my local Junk Yard (my Personal ToysRus) and got new seats from a 91 firebird and a K&N filter, that was a lucky find for $30 total. I also put up a new headliner and it was also just about $24 all together. As you can see It came out All right. Also I replaced the Steering weel and bought a pilot racing wheel. Put in some racing pedals and a decent stereo. It all came out great. Got the horrible smell aout of the car, and replaced all the little plastic things that were rip or broken.
Wheels I got these Firebird Formula wheels for $55 from ebay. The shipping cost me $65, That's Irony. The bigger and wider rim and tires makes the car handle a lot better. I am currently tring to get the suspention from a WS6 car and trasfer it to my firebird. Gotta love those Junk yards Show Less
