MAR 7 - Pan Is off and air bag mounts being welded in. I need to remove the seat mounts in there and put something else, mounted further back for the tall pe... Show moreople like me. I'm first putting the Air bags on the Rear of the car since the welding is best done with the body off. The front air kit can be assebled with the body on just fine. Front end will include Dropped Spindles, 2" narrowed beam, shock tower extenders and the air bag shocks.
MAR 5 - This Is my buddy Braden, He specializes in TIG welding, which is more accurate and mo betta' than regular welding. check out www.AIRKEWLD.com to see what we are attempting to do here. It is actually done right now, air bags and everything, and I'll get some more pics in the next couple days. Before I completely dissasenble it for media blasting of the whole Pan.
FEB 27 - Just got the pan off last night and I'm gonna put the wheels back on so I can roll it somewhere to get all the Air Ride stuff welded on.I was Surprised at how easy the body came off. Once I got all the bolts out I lifted it right up with the New T-bar bumpers I bought. Its funny because once the air ride is on, The pan will be even lower than shown here!! Make Sure you remember everything if doing this. I almost forgot the Speedo cable and the gas line when i was lowering the pan to the ground. WARNING: Use cinder blocks at own risk. They will break with no warning.
FEB 18 - Coming In the next month or so...I know im doing this car in a backwards order but I am going to take out the engine, fenders, everything to take OFF the body for pan sandblasting and painting, new transaxle, and full AIR RIDE. I know, Im crazy.
JAN 26 - Just picked the car up and it looks sick tight! White rubber with Black windows! and The white headliner is sweet with no wrinkles at all. I had to pull it home in the rain which took like 2 hours but the inside wasn't wet at all. Heres a pic of the wires to look at too. Next I have to get my new transaxle put in. I found out when I push down on the tailpipes the front of the tranny goes up about 2 inches!! I'm sure the mounts broke because of previous problems with the gears. I also need to find some cool seats. Anybody got some? Oh ya...Look closely at the windshield. Did I mention I do some window tinting on the side?
I have been thinking alot about my car recently and I am going to hold off on modifying the chassis too much for now because I am going to get a full air ride chassis from AIRKEWLD when I can afford it. For now I will put in the new tranny and maybe some dropped spindles.
JAN 20 - It looks like the shop didn't even start my car till today so...i could get it back monday (jan 24th) or something. I ordered a new transaxle today with welded 3rd and 4th gear, heavy duty sides and a superdiff whatever. It will take a couple weeks before its ready.
-I've actually been working on a baja bug for a friend every day my car has been gone. hooked up all the lights and fixing all kinds of stuff every day. He's paying for all the parts so its pretty cool. and I get to "test drive" it whenever i feel like it shoud be "tested".
JAN 11 - On the way to get the headliner in. I Should get it back around JAN 20. I have been doing all kinds of misc. door handles, side chrome, runningboards, headlights, horn grilles. I spent a couple hours with a heat gun after cleaning alot to put all the dynamat type material on the roof. the main headspace has 2 layers and feels real solid. every square inch of the interior will get at least one layer
DEC 04 - I drove the car around the block the other night after a new master cylinder for the brakes and bleeding the system.... I am very positive a new transaxle is required before the full pimping can begin. I will try some new mounts but i can already see the mounts are broken on the front nose of the tranny. The engine runs perfect for being a stocker. But the car is barely drivable with the transaxle. Show Less
