This is my 86 XR. I just bought it several months ago to tinker with. I had a 85 a while back I loved it. I bought this one to fix up and have fun with it... Show more. It has 157,000 km's and I bought it from the original owner. It had a new clutch put in and brand new 35lbs injectors. At first I thought I had a find, but knowing these cars, even with 157K on it it still had the typical problems. Cracked manifold, dried Valve Stem seals, rough idle. The first thing I wanted to do is replace the manifold. I bought a ported E6 off of Ebay for $76. Since I was replacing the manifold I thought it was a good time to do a few other things.
So I've done / purchased the following:
Cleaned and Polished Head
Larger SSTL Valves
.42 Lift Cam
Dual Valve Springs
Bosch By Pass Valve
Ford Motorsport FPR
I'm still putting it together so I have yet to see what I've done. The car had good performance to begin with, even with a cracked manifold, but I'll up date my page when I get it running. I realize there is more to this car then the engine. This car needs suspension, tires and a whole new interior. I know this ownership could be expensive, but I'm looking forward to this car changing in the next few years. Show Less
The car has been in storage for some time, and I've been able to change some things. It drives better now, but still needs tweeking to run perfect. I a... Show moredded the LA3 EEC and put in a roller cam. I ported the upper intake more and added a 60mm throttle body. I changed the layout of the intercooler piping, and changed the pipe to aluminum. I also have added a adjustable blow off valve. A full 3" exhaust is coming soon, and then I'm going to add the "scary" manual boost controller with a new WG actuator.
This summer (2007) I'm ripping out the back seats, and anything that is unnecessary weight. I'm adding some tint and some 16" rims. I bought some from a Ford Focus, and hopefully won't be too big with a higher offset then the factory 14". Paint!!!! I need a paint job! Show Less
