So I ended up replacing my 1994 Explorer with this 1998 F-150. There was nothing wrong with the Explorer but I was in need of a truck. I originally wanted a ... So, I expanded my search to include Fords.
I purchased this truck in September of 2013. This was originally a southern PA truck and you can tell. The body and frame are near spotless. The only spot o surface rust was on the driver's side front corner of the bed... a typical spot on these trucks.
As you can see, it's a SuperCab XLT with the 6.5ft box and off road package. I originally wanted a regular cab but I'm glad I didn't get one as I'm definitely seeing the merits of extended cabs. It has the 5.4 liter V8 with a 4-speed automatic and shift on-the-fly 4WD. Coming from a vehicle with manually locking hubs, this is a very nice convenience feature.
I haven't had too many problems with the truck thus far. I replaced the spark plugs as it developed a miss and had the coils looked over. I hear plugs popping themselves loose and bad coils are problem areas with this engine. The other problem I had was with the idle air valve. It was sticking causing the engine to barely run when first started and erratic idle after that.
I don't plan on doing too much to this truck but tires with better mud and snow traction are definitely in the cards. I would also like to add a more aggressive exhaust system and maybe a brush guard.
For right now, I have just the one picture from the day I bought it. I will add more when the weather gets better and I can clean the truck up a bit.
It's been a while since I posted. I just recently purchased another vehicle, which I will be adding soon. Anyway, a while back, I happened to be making a lef... I had the dealer install these new R/T headlights because I read that special tools were needed to take the lights out. It definitely gives the car a meaner ... Show morelook. I also replaced the Dodge badge with the one from the 2012 Avengers. I just like the logo with the stripes better. Show Less
