I've been dealing with honda's for quite some time and I have a thing for older imports so when I saw this for sale locally I couldn't past up th... Show moree oppurtunity to buy it. It's a 75' Datsun 280z 5spd with a rebuilt L28E engine. Everything when I bought it was pretty much stock. Only performance items it had were a unknown aftermarket cam and a header and a Supertrapp Muffler.
I've dropped quite abit into this already and wasted no time. First were the wheels had to be changed from the stock 5 slot aluminium rims that came on it with some all season tires that looked like they came off some old pickup truck. In place a new set of 15x7 Konig Rewinds in all gunmetal exclusively from Techno Tuning Toys and wrapped in Yokohama AVS ES100's. Wheels held on with Zenki Titanium colored extended lug nuts with matching valve stems to put the cherry on the top.
The stock suspension was shot so a Tokico Illumina struts and spring package is in the works of being installed to lower it down some from it's nosebleed 4x4 stance it currently sits at. To follow along with the suspension upgrade a Energy Suspension bushing kit was purchase to replace all of the old worn and tired 30 year old bushings to get this car back and above the original suspension specs.
A S&W 6pt roll bar was welded in and is a great deal for the price and the little fabricating that has to be done to make it fit besides the welding.
The stock seating isn't the most supportive so I had a new Buddy Club nonreclining race bucket install. Took me some time to install this since the Corbeau seat bracket and sliders I originally bought for it for it to be used with didn't work and mounted the seat too high to drive with. I have the exact same seat in my 92 Civic hatch and I love it to death. They are a little on the smaller side but I'm not the biggest person and like how it holds me.
The stock lighting is a little on the sorry side and a solar powered flashlight could put out more light then this in the middle of the night so new H4 conversion headlights were purchased and 7" foglights to add to this new setup which should throw out some good lighting. I like the look of the newer Mustangs with the large foglights they have as an option for them and looking to achieve the same look with the Z. Show Less
