April 30th, 2006: Install Day
After 4 months of planning and saving, my audio system is complete. It took me about 4 hours to wire everything and get the bug... Show mores out, but it's done and sounding great. The only thing I still have to do is properly mount my sub box (you'll notice the string holding it in place in the pictures).
A before and after shot of my deck and mounting job. Replaced a Sony xPlode deck with a JVC KD-DV6200 dvd head unit.
Sub box covered.
Sub box uncovered. Dual 12" Alpine Type-S's (ignore the string for now).
My boxed 6.5" Type-S's and my 6.5" Type-R's with dynamat.
My Alpine MRPM650...putting out over 600W rms.
My Black Widow 2-way LCD alarm system.

Phase one of my alarm system is complete. I purchased a Black Widow BWX5 2-way LCD remote alarm system and had it installed. I still need the... Show more keyless entry door actuators installed, but that's getting done tomorrow morning.
So far I am very pleased with the alarm system. I got it for an amazing price (I work at an electronic/car audio store) and as a huge favour from our installer, I had it installed that day and had all the labour costs promo'd. The alarm itself has a great 2-way LCD remote that signals various activities (open door, impact, etc), the 3000ft of range is great, and feature for feature it was exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I had changed was the red LED warning light. I replaced it with a brighter, blue Varad LED. So I'm happy. Once my door actuators are installed I can move on to my audio system. Then, hopefully by spring, I'll be changing the running boards and making a few other minor changes to the exterior.

I finally purchased my Alpine MRPM650 amp. I also picked up an Alpine Type-R amp kit and Type-R RCAs. I'm planning on using my truck as our store's Alpine demo truck, which is why everything is Alpine. I'm not obsessed or anything, I'd just as soon throw in some Kicker CompVRs. But since it'll be a demo vehicle, I'm keeping it consistant throughout the system.
Anyways, the amp is putting out 600W RMS (at 2 Ohms). Not too much to say, just a great overall amp. I have a 4 gauge wiring kit which is perfect for a 600W load. Soon I'll be buying the rest of the system. Once winter is finally over, I'll be doing all the installs.
Sidenote: Someone hit my truck with their extended cab Dodge and just took off. My neighbour saw it and came over right away and told me. There was no damage, thankfully. Just a little scratch on the passenger side fender. It's an old truck and has it's share of nicks, so I wasn't too upset. Also, the other day when I got up I had a flat tire. I filled it up and checked for leaks and it seems fine. It's been a couple days and it's still fully inflated. Makes me wonder if someone just let the air out...ya, there's a lot of classy people in this town. Show Less
