Weird, I've had this car now for well over 2 years. The car is currently running (well, its actually not running, but no biggie) a ... Show moregreddy t04e (a different turbo than my last update) with a haltech e6x standalone, greddy fmic, greddy bov, solid motor mounts and no form of actual tuning other than by ear. The car hasn't run for a while but thats because I've been real busy buying a house, moving, and getting thigs situated. Once i get the car into my garage i don't think it'll be down for long. I'll keep this updated... Oh, by the way-I did take it to an 1/8th mile track last summer and ran a best of a 8.07 at 92mph with a 2.01 60 ft time. That et is typical of a mid to low 12 second pass, but, that trap speed is typical of somewhere deep in the 11's. I don't really know what to expect if I got it on an actual 1/4 mile track with real tires and it running 100%, but it runs hard..when it does run. Here is a shot of my engine as it was running.
Okay, so the ol' FC made it through it's first summer with me. Now for the real mods. I bought a real nice used T04e from a guy i met not too long ago. I've gone through two modified stock s4 turbos so i'm gonna hopefully be done messing around with that. Its a polished turbonetics unit and the specs on it whre kinda a mistery when i bought it but come to find out its .66 or so comp side and .94 ar's..which oddly enough was about ideal for my goal of somewhere in the neighborhood of 400rwhp. Should be attainable with all the other expensive crap i'm having to piece together to support the turbo. Thinking of going with the Haltech e6x route even with the troubles its been having thus far. I have a electrical guru to help with the process so i think it will work out well. I've been told the program that comes with the e6x is to die for, i'm excited. Now..if i only had the money that'd make this whole process a lot faster and easier. Anyways, the 7 is basically on the shelf for now, just driving around a eclipse gsx for now. Couldn't bare the thought of having to go without a turbo for a whole winter :)
Well, the car has been on the road now for roughly three weeks and everything is running smoothly. Just finished up the breakin period about a week ago. (Decided about 1200 miles was enough to start stepping into it a little)
Here are the mods that have been done thus far:
Fresh rebuild using Rotary Aviation components
Mild street port
removed ps/ac/all emissions, and random other things. About 6 blockoff plates used in total.
Ported wastegate, removed twin scroll on stock S4 turbo
3" TID w/cheap cone filter
3.15" corksport exhaust
Rtek7 ECU chip (essencially an FCD w/other fuel delivery improvements)
Centerforce stage 2 clutch
Other things i'm forgetting i'm sure
Here are a couple dark, low quality more recent shots:
The motor from the parts car is being rebuilt/street ported, put into the AE, and everything on the AE that doesn't need to be there...is being removed. I'm hoping to have the car back on the road in a couple weeks. I hope i hope i hope...
Here is my 1988 Mazda 10th Anniversary RX-7. Real clean.
Here are a few more recent ones.
The original motor blew a coolant seal and over heated real bad, destroying the stock exhaust in the process. The passenger side of the rear bumper cover is proof...
This is a shot of my '87 TII that i'm using as a donor car.
Here are some various different pictures I've just added.
