Well it has an engine... Since the Original owner Bought this truck cash in 99, and had a Chevrolet dealer do all the service, you can imagine how clean this... Show more is, looks like its got less than 15000 miles. When i got it, the MPG readout was at 20.2 mpg, out of the last 1500 miles sampled on it. I dont really baby it, so i get about 16.3-16.5 on it, so I'm relatively happy, my old truck got 8 on pricy gas.
Big List of under the hood mods....
Optima Yellow Top 34/78 Battery.
K&N Intake Kit.
Disabled Daytime Running Lights Permanently.
(cut pin#86 on the DRL Relay, AHL will still function)
Well thats about all the mods done under there.
Finally got an intake!!! And i couldnt be happier... The guy I bought it from is called intake_power on ebay. Great deal, amazingly fast shipping and packaging. The whole install took me about 30 minutes (no lie) and the car (with stock exhaust) sounds like a camaro when i accelerate past 2500rpm. Im not going to claim i can feel a difference, but I am sure its like 5 hp or something. K&N filter down there too its hard to tell in these pictures...
First out with the old
In with the new!!! Theres also a little bracket securing it near the K&N filter, Hard to see in the pictures, and definatly the trickiest part of the EASY install.
7/1/06 Few days after I did the intake I built a shield for it. obviously it wont shield EVERYTHING as I made it in only about 30 minutes with a little cardboard and the sheet of 18 guage stainless that I got free (i do sheetmetal in summers, and know people) I might make it aluminum in the future because its heat shield ability, but this was the best looking scrap that he had at the time. It looks pretty good if you ask me, and it shields TONS of air that gets deflected off the engine from that massive fan up front. So I think it should serve a purpose :) Tell me what you think.
I get alot of questions how to disable the Daytime Running lights. Here is the picture. peg #86, (NOT #86A), it is the one circled in red ... Just bend it out of the way like the picture says, gauranteed everything else will function (including Automatic Headlights, which I actually like, but can also be disabled (ask how))
Also here are pictures of how to paint your Bowtie in a couple hours (good rainy day project...).
Pop It Off
Clean, Sand, Paint, Sand, Paint it
Pop It Back!
And you know that adds alot to the look, I suggest everyone do it, or buy a billit bowtie, I just didnt want Billet on chrome, too much silver. Blacked it out.
