Well, I think it's been well over a year since I updated this page. I've had the car for 2 1/2 years now, it's been finished for over ... Show more2 years. It's got 33,000 miles on it (I store it in the winters, which is about 6 months here). No problems with any of the repairs, however, a woman back into my rear bumper last April. I repainted it and it's fine now.
My next project is going to be a LS1 V8 Solstice. Looking at buying the car possibly next week at auction. I'll keep it more up to date as the project goes on. I'll be making a separate page for that car in case anyone wants to keep up on the progress.
**Original Page Below**
I finally got around to updating! It's been a long time I know... and the car's been done for 6 months already.
Here's a list of everything that my dad and I did to the car (we did all the work ourselves):
-upper and lower frame rails on the right side
-front sheetmetal (hood, fenders)
-front bumper/headlights/fender liners/various plastic guards
-dash (destroyed by the pass. airbag)
-CV boot on left side (damaged when it was towed)
-all motor mounts
-radiator & ac condenser
-spark plugs (cylinder 6 was misfiring... ended up being a problem with the engine cover)
-seat belt pretensioners
-pass. doors (damaged while sitting in a parking lot)
-recharged a/c system
-front windows (although now they are not tinted... got pulled over by a country cop who said they were 'ridicuously dark' and then proceeded to accuse me of both the use and possession of marijuana...)
Here's what we started with.
These are after the car was off the frame machine. Everything is torn down and the upper and lower frame rails are cut out along with the core support.
Now the new frame rails upper/lower are in and painted and the front end is fully assembled except for the bumper and headlights.
Next we moved on to repairing and refinishing the doors. The next three pictures are of the doors after they were scuffed and the dents were repaired.
The following four pictures are the doors after the repaired areas are primed and feathered out.
There are the doors after being painted, this is just the base, no clear yet (I don't seem to have those pictures)
The car was then moved to my brother's shop. There we did some reassembly and installed the windshield. The doors where drying in the other shop at the time (notice no pass. doors in the last picture).
And here's the car when it was all finished. I've been meaning to take more pictures, but haven't had the time.
I think I've covered most everything, but if you have any questions, just let me know. It's been an awesome car to work on and now to drive. In the future I'll probably change the intake and exhaust, unless a wrecked supercharged solstice can be found ;)... Show Less
