1984 Daihatsu charade rally cx
IVE finally put some effort into this car!!!!!
Well after a very long and drawn ... Show moreout project.
Just a re-cap on what is done to it
Series 1 G11 (The one that weighs in the 600 kg range)
BB T3 turbo on standard manifold with flange plate
2 1/2" Exhaust
Big Ford Probe Throttle Body
Tighe 276/279 Adv Duration Camshafts
Micks Metalcraft Intercooler
On a very conservative tune since it was the first time the engine has been run it spat out 155 hp at the wheels on 16psi and just shy of 170 hp on 18psi.
The standard G11 coil is about as good as shit So 18psi was as much that could be fed to it ... even with increasing the dwell time.
So yeah ... still alot more boost to be fed to this engine before it will wake up (considering the cams and turbo) ... still the power was very respectable.
First test run up the road. I was driving it with a mate in the passenger seat. Fully loaded up with parts as well in the car.
2nd gear ... ramp it on ... boost 5 metre jump to the left. Backed off. Thought to myself holy fukn shit!!
Tightened cooler pipe that had just blown off.
Went for another run ... this time anticipated the ridiculous torque steer
Same thing ... tried to keep the thing in a straight line ... its impossible ...
The car does not know which way is straight!
So anyway ... 3rd gear ... same thing ... frys the tyres and doesnt know which way to go
I did not give 4th gear a go because the road was barely long enough for it to pull up with G11 brakes from 150 odd at the end of 3rd
Yes so the rev limiter is at a low 8500 rpm. Peak power at 8000 rpm
So there is obviously plenty left in this car. I reckon just one person and no other stuff in the car it would chirp 4th
Very VERY crazy car to drive on the road
Now it just needs rego and a 3 bar map sensor and go back for 26psi with a decent coil Show Less
