**UPDATE** August 6... wow after 2 years I am back to upgrade the page!!!!!
my sn on 3si is 91stealthrt2... check that out for a more updated list of mods e... Show moretc. in my signature. ;)
I have been getting into autoxing my fat pig of a car, and hopefully I can be competitive next year... and maybe even make it to a real track day!!!
UPDATE! I placed first in my local club. I was running novice this year!!!!! We averaged aprox 30 novices per event so its not that bad.
I got this car 3 1/2 years ago and even though it had the best sounding stock system i've ever heard(next to my buddies zo6 w/ bose) I decided to replace everything. This is a '91 R/T, not the Twin Turbo(I wish). But it has every other option. Not too bad for a 18 y/o! :) im 21 now lol
the car had just over 80k miles when I got it and now is over 156k!!!! what can I say I love driving her!! ;)
Here she is!
I started out looking at MP3 decks between the alpine and the Kenwood. I decided on the Kenwood Excelon 659. The alpine just didn't have the looks I wanted. So here it is.
The signal is sent to my new MTX 6304 4-channel amp via PG rca's. Which is mounted on the back of the rear seats. The wiring is 4 guage Phoenix gold to a distribution block then 8 guage to the amps. I am planning on changing the trunk area around soon and rewire the whole system. Using stinger hpm and expert series stuff. 0 guage. better speaker wire etc.
I have a distribution block for the ground. 4 gauge to it then 8 to the amps.
I may decide to use wiring loom to cover the wires.
The 6304 powers my Infinity 6.5" components. In the stock location. Tweets mounted in the dash location (yes the stock system in '91 had components) the mids are in the door locations. these are getting about 80rms watts each.
My rear fill is from Infinity 2-way 6x9's in the stock locations. They are running off the 6304 now also.
I have also upgraded my sub from the evo to a EVO-R S24. Because the evo s4 wasn't quite up to par for the rest of the system. It was a great sub but not as loud as I wanted it to be. And for only $100 more the Evo-r s24 will be perfect for what I want.
The box and it turned out a little nicer than I assumed but for my first box it was a learning experience. I also didn't have a table saw. The dimensions on the box are 24x9x14, external. I have a volume of 1.2'^3 internal.
The reason for the box being thin was because The trunk is so shallow. You can see in the picture. And I wanted to be able to conceal my system in the hatch. So I can now cover it all with my leather trunk cover(I dont know what its called) Louver?
Well, I entered into a car show a couple years back and hit 136db. Not bad for a single 12" in a small sealed box!
What do you think of my home-made box? Anything I should consider if I make a second? I am thinking in a long while I will build fiberglass in the spare tire area(maybe if I ever have the money to get 18's). Or take out the back seats and have a custom fiberglass area there..... I started the fiberglass box but it has been on the back burner for a year!! I need to finish it!
I have mounted a blue neon on the box just behind the louver. It's a cheap 10" one I found. I like it a lot! So I think I will add more later on..... this is ripped out...
I just got my white face indiglo gauges and installed half of them. I will get pics soon. The center gauges will be a big project but will look so much nicer!! That will be a long project because the WHOLE dash has to be removed from the car!..... this is removed now also!!!! back to stock
I have just got a new cone intake on, and a test pipe that will be installed soon! This will be a cheap addition and add a few hp!!! :) time to replace the cone filter as its like 3 years old!
If you own or have seen this type of car or a 3000gt then you know that trunk space is VERY VERY limited!
Just added 17' stealth tt wheels and new yokohama avs es100's
My future mods will be: wow a 2 year old list i need to update!!
-new alarm is coming soon
-dynomat to trunk and maybe doors
-new struts, ill probably wait and do true coilovers. This is DONE!!! tein flex baby!!!!
Please let me know what you think and any opinions!
Next page is a few more car pictures. As well as some engine shots, even though its mostly stock.
Last page is just misc. pictures. Show Less
Just a few more pictures...
What everyone wants to see!
door and trunk open.
The wide rear of the car!
And a full pic of the center dash, with the cl... Show moreimate control, kenwood, and the stock cd player(tape/radio removed)
This one is a bad pic, the guage shows just under 12 volts. It gets down a little lower if listening to a song w/ constant bass. I need to upgrade my electrical system.
I have installed a new cap hoping to fix a small short in power. The cap doesn't fix my problem, but it helps(no more down to 12 volts) It's a Lightning Audio LSD10.
Just another close up of the logo on the sub. Kinda hard to read.
Here is some pics of the new gauges!
during day, notice the extra dummy gauges white also. I bought this from another 3/S owner on ebay. Not a bad product, but they are slightly harder to read(especially during the day) removed and back to stock..
My new intake! It sounds way better!
Not the best pic though. I also have removed the resonator.
I have added Sirius satellite radio...
Here is the neon mounted on the sub box.. I have a switch to turn it off/on, but I have it set to beat w/ the music....REMOVED! Show Less
