okay so here's the story:
for the first time ever i stored her in november after buying my white '95 F-150.
the sidepipes and wheels were removed fo... Show morer storage (yes the sidepipes are detachable)
she wasnt too bad looking. but unfortunately, the 4 months she sat (well not sat, i did take her out on a couple ocassions) but rust was still alive and eating away..
she came out in march like this:
I was very dissapointed.. the spare tire didnt help eighter.. So i was considering a less rusted out LTD, but then after careful analysis of the body, i decided to just rebuild her. I already poured a good amount of money on her, why quit now?
anyway i decided to simply rebuild her. the major trouble spots as far as rust are the front fenders, and driver door. all parts that can be replaced. front bumper is bent but i purchased one a while back that was re-chromed
I also had fenders in the garage i purchased in '03.. i've been planning ahead!
the rest of the body is simply surface rust in very few areas, but mainly its been dings, dents, chips & scratches.
as much as i LOVED this color combo, I decided not to paint her again the same color. the problem is my vynl top is beggining to crack & fade. vynl top replacement can be pricey, plus a dream of mine was to own a slicktop LTD, so the vynl isnt coming back! however, the vynl isnt that easy to remove. took me nearly 3 full days to remove and take off all the glue. the bodywork underneath was unfinished so i ended up it some bodywork.
after redoing all the panels, i was finally ready to spray. the flat black primer was a perfect start to what would be the black enamel.
spraying:
just after the painting:
the chosen wheels!
i searched high and low for these wheels. 15x7 Ford police steel wheels. thse were hard to find because they were exclusie to the police package models, altho most used the 14", and the later '90-95 used a larger 10" diam cover verus the 8" i wanted.
they were beat up, but with some paint and a set of nice dog dishes, they looked like new!
