SCSciontC: All vertical door kits will open about a foot or two before they go up. But there is no door on the market for the tC that will either go straight up or open normally and go straight up. The closest you can get is a custom kit from autoloc that drilling is required. The reason is if you open it up too far it would crash into the fender and scratch your paint. But you cannot go straight up once again cuz of your fender. If you get the chance to actually see one in person you would really get why it is designed the way it is. But it opens about as much as your stock door on the first groove. (where the door stays open just slightly). If you got any more questions feel free to ask....
