justabird: I bought the car to go SCCA racing in the stock street classes. The 1st order of business was to make it turn corners...Quick!! Was also runnin with the buds to shows as well. ADJ.3/4in sways, urethane bushings, ADJ. shocks,All good, but no top end. 3:73 gears,13in tires.. useless... Rearend change to posi and 3:08 got me up there, Not runnin in the front. Straight line street racin was a blast. But not runnin with the biggest dogs! Blown motor, let me build and install 455. No room for radiator! Was the 1st to build a street package blown V6 workin with BDS. No more SCCA. Doing very well showin, and sortin out blower related probs.1st pro show was Detoit Autorama,86, and realized the need for better paint. Almost 6g in paint..my cost and I did all work. 3mo's straight everyday. I paid 5500 for the car new. Pro show through 91 and retired after back to back international class wins. Was in a magazine shootout with 4 other 6cyl cars in Norwalk Ohio. Dusted the entire field after leavin late and leavin alot of street tires on the track! With slicks and better lite its alot quicker.Gotta remember I was fast and furious 25yrs ago and You KIDS are just catchin up now! Was at a show this summer for the 1st time in 10rs. Picked up right where I left off taking 1st class and Best of show in a 380 car field! You would NEVER be embarrassed to plop your ass in this ride! Always changin, dropped the new seats in this year, and messed up interior as the last ones were white. The GTO was somebodys race car. Had to make a choice what to take to the track this summer and it was the GTO runnin 12.1s all day and pickin up the front end! WHATARUSH! Gotta smile knowin my 6 can take the big block! Thanks for the post. Later...

transamer99: Just wanted to add that I really enjoyed reading your background info on the Banshee, Fiero, etc. That kind of info is sadly lacking on most of these sites. I've got a bunch of Banshee and early Firebird & T/A research in my blogs on MySpace. If you look me up (TransAmer99) and send me a friend request, I'll add you to the list of people who can see it. I used to keep my account public, but all the spammers caused me to change that. Now, only friends can view my profile and read the blogs. Regards, --jim--...
