Sweet Chevelle. 69' has always been my favorite year. Do you ever go to "Classic Cruise Night" in Sioux Falls? Of course it's during the summer months but if you have a classic/muscle car meet at Zkota on South Minnesota Ave on Saturday nights. I've been there a few times. Pretty nice cars. Yours would fit it. Take it easy, Joel

nice 69, your carb problem is related to the accelerator pump not functioning properly. Those carbs are junk on a car. I suggest a 650 double pump or a 750 vac secondary holley carb as an replacement. Dont forget about the spacer that converts spreadbore carbs to squarebore carbs for your intake. You don't want to change it <intake> unless its necessary. enjoy your muscle car and stay away from cops.

Very nice 69. Didn't know that any were built in Canada. The 325hp 396 came stock in 69 with a Rochester Quadrajet carb. A real piece of crap. Bad accelerator pump. I couldn't tell from pix but get a Holley single pumper replacement and that should do the trick.
I bought a Chevelle SS 396 new in 69 for my 21st BD present to myself. Best 3700 bux I ever spent and I regret selling it ever since. Enjoy

i own a 71 chevelle ss it has the original 454 with 410 horses and it has a carter quadrajet on it your carb flooding out is because it is a rochester quadrajet get you a 600 to a 650 edlebrock but you will have to get a different intake.

Nice SS, almost complete, it seems to be missing the correct SS instrumentation. SS guages replace the Chevelle Fuel gauge with a Tach/Fuel/Oil Pressure/and something else. Yours seems to have the standard fuel guage. I don't know if that's because it was built in a Canadian plant or what. Still though, very nice. Check out my 69 Chevelle if you'd like.
