Vote for the Exterior - body kit
 | Krazy Kustomz won our body kit vote. Here's the word from Bob at Drift Office on the body kit, decals and paint: Krazy Kustoms had to rush out the eight piece kit to for us to be able to finish in time for SEMA. It was still curing when we got it, and got a bit warped during shipping, so we had a little more than the usual to deal with. |
With any aftermarket body kit of ANY kind, professional installation is always highly recommended, especially when we're doing up a car for SEMA.
In this case, we molded in the over fenders/fender flares after riveting them in and then proceeded to fit the bumpers accordingly. The side skirts proved to be the most difficult, but we managed to secure them and make them fit flush with the rest of the kit. Quality was above average and it's nice to see a kit that offers a little flexibility over the traditional hard fiberglass. Resilience is always preferred when you're under steering into a curb.
As with all our projects, paint quality is always important, that's why we use PPG for all our projects exclusively. At the time of spraying, our booth had dropped well below fifty degrees and having the paint adhere and dry proved to be a little bit of an issue. Nevertheless, our painters Alan and Juan S. overcame this problem and spent an additional four hours to ensure minimal runs and flaws.
The main portion of the Scion TC was to be painted in the stock cherry color, while the roofline up was to be painted in high-gloss black. At first I wasn't sold on the paint scheme, but then the color combination started to grow on me...and quick. By the time the Blitzgear guys were done with the decals, I was working out plans for a replica car!
