D3 builds some of the hottest show cars around. They have put together some crazy rides for Cadillac, Pontiac, Buick, Chrysler and now Mitsubishi. They'll be bringing this heavily modified Eclipse to SEMA.
The Eclipse features a one-off twin turbo developed by Turbocharger Systems. One peak inside of the engine bay and you'll see this 3.8 MIVEC means serious business. Don't let the black chrome intercooler piping from Goodrich Technology fool you! This Eclipse is built to the hilt. Tuned by Split Second, this Eclipse will boost up to 7 psi per turbo and get chilled through the PWR front mount intercooler.
All the lucky air molecules not consumed by the motor they are dispensed through the Turbo XS RF-Blow Off Valve. Fuel is supplied by an in-tank Holley fuel pump and squirted into the motor through Holley Injectors. To keep the engine life extended D3 filled the oil pan with Royal Purple Synthetic Oil and chilled it with a Perma cool oil cooler and fan. Speaking of fans, D3 had to say goodbye to the stock cooling fans. When pushing this much boost through the motor the stock fans had to be replaced by a couple of high performance Perma Cool fans. Slam the Import Trenz vented hood closed because that is all D3 is going to show you underneath the hood.
Focus on the 19” Volk GT-V wheels by Rays Engineering and you will see this car means business. And check out those brakes by Rotora. They're huge! Shine Street produced a seriously wicked body kit that accentuates the factory body lines while clearing room for those wide meats front and rear. The D3 Eclipse lets you know exactly what its rockin by putting all the sponsors on the car in the form of vinyl from Auto Indulgence.
The car not only looks fast but handles great! From chassis bracing from D3 and tires from Toyo T1-R's this car has grip. If the Eibach springs, Energy Suspension bushings, and WORKS sway bars causes too many G-forces when cornering, don't worry the OMP racing harness and seats will keep you firmly planted! Just make sure you hold on to that snazzy OMP steering wheel. The interior has taste, style, and performance. Rocking a AVN7000 (Navigation, Sirus Radio, DVD, and CD) Headunit by Eclipse and speakers by Image Dynamics, you forget your in a sport compact car!
Just in case you do experience temporary hearing loss and can't hear the engine, take a glance over at the Autometer gauges and see that everything is copasetic. Sound quality reigns supreme inside this Eclipse. If you aren't listening to the twin turbos spool up, your listening to the crisp clean music pumping from the (2) 12” IDMAX woofers powered by Eclipse Amps. Keeping the woofers and amps company in the trunk rest (2) 15” Acelle Electronics monitors showing off the latest DVD's. All these components are connected through their electronic blood vessels, a.k.a. wiring from Scosche Products. However the guys at D3 like to listen to the sweet tunes produced by the WORKS 3” exhaust system.
D3 does 75% of the work in house, and has four techs wrenching on a variety of show cars. When the in house techs can't get to the car, D3 sends it down to Ball Mitsubishi for any major servicing and installations. From the initial concept drawn out on paper to the systematic approach of piling custom and production parts, this project was completed in four weeks. The majority of the work was completed in two weeks, with a few sleepless nights!
