Let's face it. Folks don't go to car shows to check out rides you can see in the parking lot of Whole Foods. People pay for the privilege of rubbing shoulders with automotive rock starsFerrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martinor checking out wicked concepts. So I have to say, I was a little disappointed in the LA Auto Show this year. Sure there were conceptsreally, really ugly ones mostlyand plenty of sexy sheet metal, but it felt like most of the field was just regular cars. And I'm sorry, but a Toyota Camry behind a velvet rope is still a Toyota Camry. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the Camry. But there's a time and a place to check them out. Like after work. In the Whole Foods parking lot.
But hey, I still had a blast! Getting to see a Ferrari Enzo in person was awesome, though it did make all the stories of them getting totaled sting a little. I hope the one I was gawking at doesn't wind up wrecked by some drunken Russian billionaire. Enzo owners, please drive carefully, they only sold three hundred and ninety-nine of those babies!
