Event Date: Oct. 15, 2005
"The biggest and baddest import car show to ever rock the valley of the sun went on in spectacular fashion as Hot Import Nights invaded Cricket Pavilion October 15th. In what was originally slated as a daytime event somewhere in downtown Phoenix, Hot Import Nights ended up changing venues and the time of day, much to the delight of Phoenix fans. The signature night event drew tens of thousands of fans to checkout many cars the likes of which Phoenix has never seen.
Nitto tires, in conjunction with several local drift stars, kept the smoke billowing and put on a free for all parking lot drift exhibition to the delight of many. Many of the car show participants and clubs displayed their cleanest rides, while one of the local clubs ("Wet Dreamz") even took home a 6.5' tall trophy for displaying 19 cars in total. Local and national vendors alike also displayed their newest rides and recent project cars while also distributing free schwag to many of the spectators on hand. The evening was also capped with a performance from Miami rapper Pitbull, who rocked the Mazda stage and kept the crowd jumping.
HIN Phoenix was a tremendously successful event that proved Phoenix deserves a spot on the map for many of the larger national events that frequently pass over the city in favor of traditionally larger venues. The success of HIN in this capacity is a win-win situation for everyone involved, and we can only hope that the next time HIN rolls through it will be bigger and badder than ever."
